Hello, my name is Alan.

I’m an Archangel Pigeon, fancy name, fancy pigeon compared to those Collared Doves outside. I was born here at the Sanctuary. Janet rescued my mum and dad from Henley Market five years ago and they were so happy here that they produced me! They both died earlier this year and Janet has been looking for a friend for me since then but we seem to have gone out of fashion and she hasn’t had any luck. I’m contented as I can chat to the Collared Doves – pleased I’m not out there in all this wind and in the winter – and I’ve got Blackberry and Bryony for company they’ve always been in my aviary so I know them well. I don’t want to end up in a market like mum and dad did, if Janet hadn’t got to them first they would have been sold to eat, and I want to stay here where I was born with my friends, so please sponsor me.

Hello, we are Blackberry and Bryony, Alan’s friends.

We came from a place called Blackburn in Lancashire. Where we were born was dreadfully overcrowded and there were about a hundred of us all kept in bins and boxes. We can tell you it was pretty grim. One day these people arrived and took us all away. Seemingly the Sanctuary offered some of us a home so twelve of us came here. That was six years ago. We have always had our own accommodation, lots of room – thank goodness – and fresh air, plenty of shelter and loads of wonderful things to eat. Alan’s mum and dad had perches and a roost made when they arrived but that doesn’t interfere with us as we don’t fly. We like to keep our paws on the ground, thank you. We were sad when they died but pleased to have Alan with us he is always polite and very bright. We don’t want to go back to Blackburn or anywhere like it so please sponsor us.

Alan and the Girls can be sponsored for £10 a year.
