Hello, my name is MAISIE. I am 7 years old. When I was born I was known as “the runt of the litter”. I’m still not sure what that meant but I remember always being the last to get to the milk bar and, by that time, there wasn’t much left for me. All my siblings had gone somewhere and, at 10 weeks old, I was the only one left with my Mum. I remember at the time that there was some talk about drowning me as I was small and plain. Some understanding person, who I am sorry to say I can’t remember, brought me to the Sanctuary and gave me to Janet on the occasion of her birthday. I come from Totnes in Devon and I had a bit of difficulty understanding the local twang when I first arrived, but I’ve got it worked out now with help from Tom the other domestic cat here. The feral cats are a bit stand offish. Well I don’t think I’m particularly small now and Tom says that I am pretty. I live outside in the summer but always go back into the house to sleep in the winter. I have a comfortable and interesting life here with a lot of animal and human friends. I am pleased that I wasn’t drowned, whatever that was, it’s much better at the Sanctuary. |
