Beatrice the dog

Hello my name is Beatrice.

Hello, my name is BEATRICE. No one knows how old I am. They think I could be about 3 to 4 years old. I’d had puppies. I don’t know what happened to them. I became very thin and the people who had me didn’t want me. So I left. I remember walking along a road and being hit by a car. The driver didn’t bother to stop – I was only a dog after all in their eyes. I was laid in the ditch at the side of the road. My hip hurt terribly and I couldn’t stand up let alone continue my search for help. Another motorist, a compassionate one, saw me, stopped, picked me up and took me to a vet. This vet, even though they were in a place called Derbyshire, knew about the Sanctuary and arranged for me to come here once they had fixed my hip. It was a relief to find a place where I got regular meals and affection and had an interest taken in me. I've been here 2 years now. All the other dogs were much older than me and wouldn’t play. Then Rosie arrived. She is great. My size and my age. She will tell you her own story. My favourite person here is Louise who comes most days to look after all the animals. I am her chief helper. I miss her at weekends and always look forward to Mondays. She can’t take me home as her other dog Danny lives there.
