Ruby the dog.

Hello my name is Ruby.

HELLO, my name is Ruby and I am a Dogue de Bordeaux.  I don’t really know how old I am but the vet seems to think I’m probably about two years old. I can remember having a desperate time of it on the streets of a city called Birmingham.  I was pregnant and I had no-one to help me or to look after me.  I couldn’t find any food, I was starving, my puppies stopped moving and then I got an infection.  It made me feel very ill and weak.  I couldn’t fight it off as I had no food.  I walked and walked searching for help, my feet were painful.  Just when I thought I was going to have to give up, lay down and not get up again some one took me to a place where they take in dogs like me.  We are called strays whatever that means.  There were other dogs in this place who had had a terrible time of things too.  Anyway, by this time I was really ill so the people at this place took me to a man called a vet. He was very kind to me; he had to take my puppies away as they were dead and were killing me.  I feel sad about that but it wasn’t their fault or mine.  Once they had gone I started to get well and then one day I arrived here, the best place in the world for me.  It is called a Sanctuary and is really for farm animals but it is certainly one for me too.  I get lots of food, only have to walk if I want to, the people here love me and, best of all, I have a friend who is the same as me, Rosie.  We play and play and go visit the other animals here.
