My name is MARK and I’m a Muscovy duck. You can tell us by our distinctive red, knobbly heads and necks. Don’t be put off by appearances though. We are generally extremely sociable and like people even though we may hiss if we feel threatened. I was a bit older than my new chum, Muscy, when I came to the Sanctuary. My tale is pretty much the same as his. Taken in as a cute duckling by a well meaning family grew into the red and lumpy adult, lost my appeal, needed larger accommodation and here I am. I suppose we are the reverse of the old story about the ugly duckling who grew to be beautiful. But you know what they say, beauty is only skin deep and believe me we are friendly guys beneath all the lumps. I am enjoying pottering about in the fields with Muscy but we could do with two girls for company. Janet is on the look out for some. Please sponsor me so I will be here when she finds them. |
