Gertrude the goat

Hello my name is Gertrude.

HELLO, my name is GERTRUDE.  I am an Angora goat.  Don’t mention the hair, I know, but I like it. It sets me apart from all the others.  I don’t really know how old I am but I am not a young girl any more.  I’ve been at the Sanctuary for several years now.   I used to live with five elderly sheep in a village a few miles from here.  We were kept as pets.  Our owners sold their property and, whilst they looked for another one, they asked the Sanctuary to look after us on a temporary basis.  We were here twelve months before they found a new property.  By that time we had settled in very well and made new friends here so our owners asked if we could stay on a permanent basis.  The answer was yes, which we all thought was great.  So our old owners paid for a field shelter to be built for the six of us and all our new friends.  Since then I’ve made one or two special chums here especially Milford the ram who lives in the paddock next door.  I just think he is so handsome and polite.  I love Polo mints, Arrowroot biscuits, apple slices and banana skins.  I hate being sheared and usually manage to outwit and outrun the humans when I sense that is going to happen.  Janet says I am almost impossible to catch then.   After a few minutes charging around I usually capitulate as I know it’s good for me to be sheared with all this hair.  I love being here at the Sanctuary with so many friends always to be made.  I love the constant supply of treats.  Please sponsor me.
