HELLO, my name is Rosie and I am about four months
old now. When I was born I didn’t like where I was even though my
mother and siblings were there too, I just felt a sense of foreboding
– a big word I know for a new born piglet – so I ran away. I can
remember running across grass then through a hedge and coming to
this hard, grey surface. I ran along the edge of that as it was
pretty hard going on my young trotters. I heard a loud noise and
smelt a sort of burning. I thought, “Come on girl, keep running.”
The noise and smell caught up with me, I was getting tired by this
time. I heard a soft voice and gentle hands picked me up. I looked
into the face of a smiling person. This person took me to another
man who was called a vet. He said that I was only about 12 hours
old, well I could have told them that, and seemed to know where I
had runaway from because I was taken back there. The smiling man
told me not to worry he would be back. Three months later, when
I no longer needed to feed from my mother, he was. He brought me
here to this place called the Sanctuary. My friend Georgina and
I call it the Playground. The lady who runs this place, Janet, decided
I needed a young friend for company so she went back to the farm
and bought Georgina. What a fantastically understanding decision
on Janet’s part. Georgina and I simply adore it here. We love Puppa
the little black dog who joins in all our games. We have such ecstatic
fun when they let us out to romp in the top fields. We love human knees to sit on and ankles
to nibble. Well, that is how you treat friends in the piggy world.
I just wish that my mother and siblings could have come here too.
Goodness knows where they are now. I want to stay in the Playground
with Georgina for the rest of my life. One year on and Rosie has grown into a bigger and more boisterous girl with lots of confidence. She and Georgina have their own paddock, wallow and accommodation which they enjoy. Please sponsor me.
