Gilly the sheep

Hello my name is GILLY.

Hello my name is GILLY.  I don’t know exactly how old I am but I know I am not young any more.  I’ve had a lot of lambs and my last one was stillborn.  I felt very sad about that.  It always made me sad when they were taken away, I don’t know where they went, but this little one was actually dead.  I belonged to the same farmer as Grace in Leicestershire.  Because my last lamb was born dead he decided I couldn’t make any more money for him so I was put with Grace and some young lambs to go to slaughter. I know that is not a good place to go I’d heard some of the other sheep discussing it.  Fortunately for us all a lady arranged for us to come here to the Sanctuary. I wasn’t sure what that meant at first. I am a very nervous sheep and very frightened of humans but it seems that the ones here are different to the ones I’d met before.  I know they are trying their best to help me but it’s going to take some time for me to absolutely be able to trust them.  It’s not their fault it’s just that life has been terribly hard for me until I came here.  I won’t eat my food until they’ve left the barn and then I can relax.  Grace is a wonderful help, she is our leader really and gives us all confidence. I feel that this is a good place for me to be in.  I would like to stay here for the rest of my life with Grace and the others in our group where eventually I don’t have to be frightened any more.  Please sponsor me.
