Hello my name is GRACE. I am either seven or eight years old, I’m not too sure which. Until coming here I’d spent all my life on a commercial farm in a place called Leicestershire having lamb after lamb after lamb to make money for the farmer, my owner. It was very tiring I can tell you. Each year I got weaker and weaker as none of us were very well cared for. Eventually I injured one of my legs in the field, I can’t remember exactly how I did it, but I didn’t get any treatment for it so it got much worse and now I can only walk on three of my legs. It has been really painful. Since I’ve been at the Sanctuary I’ve had injections for this injury from a man called a vet. He is very gentle and it’s not his fault if the injections hurt. They’ve stopped the pain in my bad leg although apparently the damage to it is now irreversible because it wasn’t treated straight away. Anyway I’m used to it and it doesn’t stop me from getting around perfectly well. Because I injured my leg I was no use to the farmer any more so he decided to send me for something called slaughter. I don’t know what that is but I do know that every year some of my friends disappeared so I think this is where they must have gone. There was a group of us ready to go but this compassionate lady intervened somehow and the farmer let her take us away. She already had some sheep but she arranged for us to come here. We were all extremely frightened at first as to be honest our experience of humans had been very traumatic to say the least, until we arrived at the Sanctuary. The people here are all patient and kind and we know they are doing their best to help us settle and slowly we are doing. I know I am safe here. I know I will be cared for if I injure myself again. I know I won’t have to have any more lambs. Best of all I know I won’t be going to that place called slaughter. I would dearly like to stay at the Sanctuary. Please sponsor me.
