Sky Arrives At Last

Sky the ewe from the Island of Skye has been with us for a month now. She is the last of the sheep to come from a small sanctuary on the island that had to close last year. So, at last, she has joined her sisters! She is a friendly girl and has settled very well indeed in her new accommodation.
Sanctuary Dogs Win Through At Show

A pleasant afternoon out at a local show turned into three of our rescued canine friends bringing home several rosettes. Ruby, one of the Douges de Bordeaux who was found on the streets of Birmingham almost dead from starvation and septicaemia, won first prize for Best Rescue and Best In Show, Puppa, bought 14 years ago for £5 as a puppy from a gypsy who had her stuffed up his jumper, took 3rd Best Rescue and Tilly, the Bassett, took 2nd in the Most Appealing Eyes. Well done Girls!
A Date for Your Diary – Farm Animal Sanctuary and Animal Charities Day
Our Open and Animal Welfare Day is on Sunday 4th September from 1 to 5pm. Free parking is available on one of the fields nearby and we will have refreshments to revive you if you have travelled some distance. Some of our residents will “strut their stuff” in the Sheep Agility, not to be missed, and of course lots of stalls with hopefully tempting items for you to purchase will be on site too. Animal Welfare Organisations hoping to grab your attention will include Tortoise Rescue, Guinea pig and Rabbit Rescue, Cat Rescue, Bedlington Terrier Rescue, Greyhound Rescue, the Dr Hawarden Trust, the Vegetarian Society and the Vegan Society. And we’ve no doubt that some of our residents will be extremely happy, if not demanding, to meet you.
