A Sad Goodbye

Babe died quietly in her bed three weeks ago. That morning she had got up with her usual enthusiasm for life greeting the hens, sheep and dogs and all the humans she encountered. She had her breakfast and her treat biscuits mid morning and then took her self back to her bed. She didn’t get up again. She died in her sleep and looked very peaceful. We don’t know what Babe died from only that up until that last moment of her young life she had been an extremely happy pig. Babe gave us all lots of affection and a lot of laughter. She was always up to some mischief! The yard and the barn were quiet without her. This year’s orphaned lambs have changed that with their bleating at bottle times. Babe would have welcomed them to the Sanctuary. She was a girl with a large heart and a place for everyone she met in it. She is very much missed.

Winter Quarters

Our middle aged and elderly sheep are still snug in their winter quarters in the barns. The grass has not yet grown sufficiently to support them all in the fields. As you can see they are contentedly munching their way through the Sanctuary’s bank account!

Adam and his new friends Jack, Minnie and Annie

As you can see from Adam’s most recent photo call he has and is continuing to thrive the highly traumatic start to his life now behind him. He is looking for a sponsor and you can read his personal story on his sponsor page. He has three new friends. Annie came from the same place as Adam. She was then about three weeks old and quite tiny. After a determinedly reluctant start to drink from a bottle she is now thriving too. She is quiet a feisty little girl! Minnie and Jack had a much more compassionate start in life. Both of them were the third lamb of two sets of triplets. There were lots of triplets on that farm this year which the farmer would normally hand rear but because there were so many he was overwhelmed and asked the Sanctuary to take two and give them a better chance. So here they are.
