A Sad Goodbye
Babe died quietly in her bed three weeks ago. That morning she had got up with her usual enthusiasm for life greeting the hens, sheep and dogs and all the humans she encountered. She had her breakfast and her treat biscuits mid morning and then took her self back to her bed. She didn’t get up again. She died in her sleep and looked very peaceful. We don’t know what Babe died from only that up until that last moment of her young life she had been an extremely happy pig. Babe gave us all lots of affection and a lot of laughter. She was always up to some mischief! The yard and the barn were quiet without her. This year’s orphaned lambs have changed that with their bleating at bottle times. Babe would have welcomed them to the Sanctuary. She was a girl with a large heart and a place for everyone she met in it. She is very much missed.

Winter Quarters
Our middle aged and elderly sheep are still snug in their winter quarters in the barns. The grass has not yet grown sufficiently to support them all in the fields. As you can see they are contentedly munching their way through the Sanctuary’s bank account!
