Update on Snowdrop the lamb
Snowdrop is thriving extremely well and is growing and putting on weight as you would expect for a lamb of her age. However, because of her very low birth weight she remains very tiny and it will be some months before we feel confident that she will survive to have a happy life at the Sanctuary. What she lacks in size she most certainly makes up for in personality and determination! She is a very bright girl. She discovered Rich Tea biscuits a few weeks ago and now, having sampled a small piece, nudges you and your pockets every time she sees you. For one so small she does have an amazingly fantastic appetite standing in bowls of dried grass to prevent the others from getting their share!
Arnie the horse
Arnie joined us in March. He was bought from market by Janet to save him for going for slaughter -British horses are still being eaten in France. He is 12 years old and his owner told Janet that because of the credit crunch he had to sell either Arnie or his daughter's pony. Arnie drew the short straw. After a few days with us it became apparent that Arnie was also lame - a condition his owner had omitted to mention. He has what is called a low ring bone in his foot and will be permanently lame as this can rarely be rectified. Arnie is most certainly well settled and very happy. He follows dog walkers across the field - his has a public footpath in it - walking right behind them and ignoring the dogs. He lives with Charlie and Anya and his general condition is much better and he is no longer stressed. As you can see from his photo Arnie is obviously oblivious to the credit crunch.
